Men's Ice Hockey Defeats Utica 4-1

UTICA, N.Y. – The Neumann College men’s ice hockey team scored three goals in the second period en route to a 4-1 win over Utica College Friday night in ECAC West play.

 

Marlon Gardner (from Matt Ward and Kyle Casey) and Mike Hedden (from Charles Paterson) scored two power play goals 34 second apart in the second period to put Neumann up 2-0. Ryan Heickert netted an even strength goal off an assist from Donovan Hall and Kaleigh Schrock at the 14:27 mark to put the Knights up 3-0.

 

Sean Timkey scored Utica’s only goal at the 12:39 mark of the third period to put the Pioneers on the board. Schrock netted an empty net goal with six second remaining to seal the win.

 

Ross MacKinnon made 24 saves in net for the Knights. Anthony Luckow started the game for Utica and made four saves. Justin Bolla played 53 minutes in net and made 21 saves.

 

Neumann improves to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in ECAC West play. The Knights will face Manhattanville on Saturday night in ECAC West action. Earlier this season, the Knights took two games from Manhattanville. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m.
