Women's Basketball Defeats Sage College

, Fla. – The Neumann College women’s basketball started the new year out with a 65-45 win over Sage College Saturday afternoon at the ECAC Holiday Festival.

 

Brittany Whetts led the Knights with 14 points. Stephanie Fanto and Sami Borcky each netted eight points. Kieran Young grabbed 10 rebounds. Carlin Demarinis led Sage with 10 points.

 

With the scored tied at five-all three minutes into the game, Neumann outscored Sage 16-2 over the next nine minutes to take a 21-7 lead. Sage would work its way back to within five points, 26-21 and 28-23 with under three minutes remaining in the first half, but the Knights would score six of the last seven points of the half for a 34-24 lead at halftime.

 

Neumann would keep extending its lead in the second half, never letting Sage climb back into the game. Whetts netted six of her 10 points in a three minute span of the second half to extend the Knights lead by over 20 points.

 

Neumann improves to 7-3 on the season and will face Worchester Poly Technical tomorrow, Sunday, at 10 a.m. in it second and final game of the ECAC Holiday Festival.
