Men's Lacrosse Beats PSU-Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Neumann College men’s lacrosse team defeated Penn State-Abington, 19-16, on a cold and rainy Tuesday afternoon.

 

Matt Toth led the Knights with six goals. Justin Mailloux and Kyle Gardner each netted four goals. Dominic Collichio dished out five assists. Bryan Capone, Mailloux and Toth each had three assists. Pat D’Ambrosio made two saves in net in the first quarter. Mike Tori was in net for the final three quarters and made 18 saves.

 

Nathan Meyer had seven goals for the Nitany Lions. Jordan Dipentino scored four. Billy Kelly and Meyer each had four assists. Ian Lydon made 17 saves in net.

 

Mailloux opened the game scoring two goals. PSU-Abington answered with three goals to take the lead. The Knights closed out the first quarter scoring four goals to take a 6-3 advantage. With 5:32 left in the second quarter, the Nitany Lions rattled off four straight goals to take a 9-8 lead into halftime.

 

The Knights battled back in the third quarter and took a 13-12 lead heading into the final stretch. Kyle Gardner put the Knights up by four, 17-13, with 7:02 left on the clock. The teams ended the game trading goals.

 

The Knights will travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday for a conference match-up. The game is slated to start at 2 p.m.
