Baseball Falls to Giants in CSAC Championship

LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann College baseball team fell to Keystone College, 12-1, Sunday afternoon in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship Game.

 

The Knights scored their only run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by George Hatton to score Billy Canady. Kevin Lengyel started the game, going seven innings. He allowed nine runs, three earned, on seven hits and struck out four. Ray Schmoltze pitched the eighth inning.

 

Keystone scored two runs in the first and third to take a 4-0 lead before Neumann scored in the fifth. The Giants added five more runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to seal the win and take the CSAC Title.

 

Keystone receives the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Neumann will await the brackets for the NCAA and the ECAC to see if its season will continue. The Knights are currently 21-19-1 on the season.
