ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College softball team won two games during the first day of the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament to advance to the Championship game on Sunday. Game scores were Neumann 10, Immaculata 0 in five innings and Neumann 2, Centenary 1.
Jennifer Goslin hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to give Neumann the 10 runs. Kimberley Kirkpatrick had three RBI. Shelia Munson and Caitlin Hanrahan each had three hits.
Angela Sebasto pitched five innings for the shutout win. She allowed three hits and struck out six.
Neumann put two runs on the board in the first inning. The Knights would not score again until the fifth inning where they scored eight. Munson and Sebasto both had RBI singles before Goslin stepped to the plate and hit the grand slam.
In the 2-1 win over Centenary, solo homeruns by Kirkpatrick and Goslin accounted for the Knights runs. Sebasto again pitched a complete game. She allowed one run, unearned, on four hits and struck out six.
The Knights improve to 30-10 overall this season. Neumann advances to the Championship game on Sunday where they will face the winner of the Centenary / Immaculata game. The first game will begin at 9 a.m. to be followed by the Championship match-up.
