ASTON, Pa. – Five Neumann Knights were named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) All-Conference team, announced Thursday by the conference office. First year head coach was also named Co-Coach of the Year.
Matt Grossi was named to the first team, while Kevin Flanigan, Kevin Lengyel, Matt Gallagher and Bobby Callan all earned honorable mention.
Grossi is batting .397 in 36 games this season. He leads the team with 50 hits. The sophomore also has 31 RBI, 11 doubles and three homeruns.
Flanigan is batting .344 in 36 contests. He leads the team in at-bats with 131. So far in 2009, the freshman has 45 hits, scored 30 runs and knocked in 29 runs.
Lengyel leads the team in batting average this season, hitting .409 in 34 games. In 110 at-bats, the senior has 45 hits, 12 doubles, scored 31 runs and has 33 RBI. From the mound, Lengyel is 4-2 in nine appearances. In 52.2 innings pitched, he has struck out 40.
Gallagher is batting .391 this season with 45 hits, and leads the team with 17 doubles, three triples and four homeruns. He has scored and knocked in 39 runs.
Callan is batting .383 so far this season. In 33 games, the freshman has 31 hits, scored 26 runs and has knocked in 19 runs.
The Knights begin the quest for the CSAC Title today against Gwynedd-Mercy. Game time is 11 a.m. at Bear Stadium in Boyertown, Pa.
