Cross Country Teams Place 9th at IU Invitational

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University cross country teams competed at the Immaculata Invitational Saturday morning.

 

The women's placed ninth out of 12 teams with 258 points. Ursinus College came in first with 42 points, Marywood University was second with 49 and Gwynedd-Mercy College was third with 100 points.

 

Baptist Bible College came in ahead of the Knights with 233 while Keystone College finished in 10th position with 285 points.

 

Kelly Rehder paced the Knights in the 5K run. She finished with a time of 23:01, good for 27th out of 98 runners. Caitlin Coleman came in second for Neumann, finishing in 23:53 (36th). Megan Dodson placed 60th with a time of 25:24 while Megan Birchall ran with a time of 27:07 (71st). Rounding out the top five for the Knights was Kaitlyn Williams with a time of 27:32 (75th).

 

On the men's side, the Knights finished in ninth place out of 11 teams with 308 points. Gwynedd-Mercy College (28), Ursinus College (57) and Marywood University (113) took the top three spots.

 

Philadelphia Biblical University (287) and Centenary College (350) finished in front and behind of the Knights.

 

Tim Schmitz finished first for the Knights with a time of 32:23 in the 8K, good for 37th out of 92 runners. David Bergamo finished in 43rd with a time of 33:04. Anthony Defrancesco placed 63rd with a time of 35:17. David Matkowski ran a 39:49 (79th) and Samir Loftlin had a time of 42:09 (86th).

 

The Knights will compete at the Mule/Falcon Classic next weekend in Allentown, Pa.
