Cross Country Opens at Sea Gull Opener

SALISBURY, Md. – The Neumann University cross country teams opened their 2009 season at the Sea Gull Opener at Salisbury University.
On the men’s side, Messiah College took first place with 26 points, followed by Salisbury University with 41. Neumann did not place in the team’s standings.
Individually, Tim Schmitz finished the 8K course in 31:21 to place 59th out of 81 runners. David Bergamo finished with a time of 32:15 for 66th place. Anthony Defrancesco ran the course in 33:03 (69th) to round out the Knights.
On the women's side, the Knights finished in eighth place out of nine teams with 232 points. Messiah College came in first with 29 and Rowan University placed second with 46 points.
Leading the Knights in the 6K race was Kristin Reagan who finished the course in 28:05. She finished 60th out of 90 runners. Megan Dodson came in 71st with a time of 29:36. Chrissy Parr ran the course in 31:15 to place 76th. Megan Birchall finished in 32:11 (81st) and Sarah Dodson ran the 6K in 37:55 (89th).
The teams will compete in the Immaculata Invitational next Saturday.
