ASTON, Pa – The Neumann University women’s ice hockey team defeated Sacred Heart 5-3 Friday evening in non-conference action. 

Nicki Blazenko had two goals and two assists for the Knights. Jessica Schroeder had two goals and an assists while Diane Peters added three assists. Shannon Donnelly made 27 saves in net. 

Neumann jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play. Blazenko scored the first goal 5:05 into the game. Schroeder then added her two goals.  

Sacred Heart would made the score 3-2 midway through the second, but then Blazenko scored her second goal with less than two minutes left in the period for a 4-2 Knights lead. 

Both teams would light the lamp in the third. Holly Williams scored with 50 seconds left in the game to seal the win. 

Neumann improves to 6-6-1 on the season. The two teams will meet again tomorrow night beginning at 7 p.m.
