UTICA, N.Y. – The Neumann University women’s ice hockey team defeated Utica College, 4-2, Tuesday afternoon in an ECAC West contest.
 
Khrisine Acosra netted two goals for Neumann. Jessica Schroeder and Nicko Blazenko each had a goal and an assists. Tanya Lamon dished out two assists. Shannon Donnelly made 36 saves in net.
 
The first period set the tone for rest of the game as the Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead., Acosta netted the first goal at 5:49 into the first period from Lamon.  Four minutes later, Schroeder scored the Knights second goal at 9:57 from Olivia Pryzbylkowski and Blazenko.
 
The Pioneers responded with a lone goal in the second period to cut Neumann’s lead to one.
 
Acosta scored her second goal of the night 5:34 into the third period from Lamon and Holly Williams.  Utica then scored 18:08 into the third period, scored by MacKenzie Roy. Blazenko sealed the win for the Knights, scoring 11 seconds later at 18:19 from Schroeder.
 
The Knights (8-6-1, 3-4-1 ECAC West) return back on the ice, for a two game series with ECAC West opponent SUNY-Cortland this weekend. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
