MBB Falls Short at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University men’s basketball team fell to Cabrini College Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), 88-79.

Na’Sheed Linton led the Knights with 29 point. Mike Walukiewicz went 5-for-8 from three-point land and ended with 17 points. Toure’ Wright added 13 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Cabrini had five players in double figures, led by Kevin Misevicius with 24. Brandon Carter netted 18 points. Cory Lemons added 17 points and pulled in 10 rebounds. Dom Farrello and Lamar Fisher each scored 10.

Cabrini would hold the lead for most of the game and had a five point advantage, 38-88, with 4:36 left in the first half. Neumann would take its only lead of the game with 1:41 left in the first half on a basket by Linton. Cabrini answered with a three pointer. The Cavaliers would hit another three at the buzzer and took a 48-41 lead into halftime. 

The Cavaliers built their lead up to 14 points, 69-55, with 9:54 left on the clock. Neumann would then rattle off seven points, capped by a Walukiewicz three pointer, for a 69-62 game with 7:47 remaining. With 2:17 showing, Wright hit a lay-up to put the Knights within six, but Cabrini kept Neumann at arm’s length and the Knights could not get any closer. Cabrini came away with the 88-79 win.

Neumann (8-7, 6-2 CSAC) will host the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday in the second part of a doubleheader. The women tip-off at 2 p.m. followed by the men at approximately 4 p.m.
