Alexopoulos Scores in OT to Lift Knights to Win

ASTON, Pa. – Nicole Alexopoulos scored the game winning goal in overtime to list the Neumann University women’s ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over Cortland St. Friday evening in ECAC West.
 

Kayla Dubowski scored twice for the Knights. Jessica Schroeder added three assists. Shannon Donnelly made 14 saves in net. Neumann outshot Cortland St. 52-16.

After the teams played to a scoreless first period, Cortland St. netted the lone goal of the second at the 11:42 mark. 

Dubowski scored her first goal 7:24 into the third period on the power play. The Red Dragons took a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal at the 17:20 mark. Dubowski netted her second goal 30 seconds later to tie the game at 2-all.

Alexopoulos scored the game-winner 1:28 into the overtime period to give Neumann the win. Neumann improves to 9-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the conference. 

The Knights and the Red Dragons will meet again tomorrow afternoon. The face-off will be at 3 p.m.
