Men's Ice Hockey Falls Short to Hobart

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men’s ice hockey team fell to Hobart College, 3-2, Saturday evening in ECAC West action.

 

Hobart scored the only goal of the first period, as Rick Longobardi scored unassisted 6:52 into the game.

 

Marlon Gardner tied the game at one with a power play goal 6:05 into the second period. Matt Ward and William Lacasse assisted on the goal. The Statesmen responded 11 seconds later with a shorthanded goal. Hobart would score again at the 11:54 mark on the power play. The goal would be the eventual game-winner.

 

Jeffrey Bienvenue cut the Statesmen lead to one with a goal at the 7:41 mark of the third period. Sean Bianchini and David Gervais assisted on the goal. Neumann would have its chances to tie the game, but Hobart goaltender Nick Broadwater would not let another puck past him.

 

Ross MacKinnon made 19 saves in net for Neumann. Broadwater made 38 saves for Hobart.

 

Neumann (9-8-2, 2-5-2 ECAC West) will host Lebanon Valley next Friday in ECAC West action beginning at 7 p.m.
