ASTON, Pa. – The 2009 Neumann University women's soccer team has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with the team Ethics Gold Award for the second consecutive season.

The Gold Award is presented to teams that did not receive either a yellow or red card during the 2009 season. Neumann is one of nine schools to achieve this goal. A Silver Award is given to those teams that received no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards during the season. Bronze is awarded to teams with no red cards and a maximum of 10 yellow cards. 

"We are very proud to receive this award from the NSCAA for the second year in a row. It is the first time in the programs history that this has been accomplished,” said Head Coach Jeremy Brodovsky.  “We won this award while being more competitive this year while also achieving the best competitive win-loss record for the Women's Soccer program in its history.”  

The Knights finished the 2009 season with an overall record of 8-9-1, 4-6 in the conference. The eight wins tied the team for the most wins in a season with the 2001 team that went 8-12.

“This goes to show that fair play and competitiveness can and do go hand in hand. I would also like to congratulate the other eight teams in the country that won this award." 

The team will be recognized on January 14 at the NSCAA College Coaches Awards Reception during the annual NSCAA convention.
