Knights Skate Past Conn. College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team notched their second shutout of the weekend with a 5-0 win at Connecticut College Saturday afternoon.

 

For the second straight game, five difference Knights lit the lamp. Jessica Schroeder and Nikk Blazenko each had a goal and an assist. Shannon Donnelly made 38 saves in net. Khristine Acosta dished out two assists.

 

Blazenko put Neumann ahead 1-0 at the 9:11 mark of the first period. Acosta and Schroeder assisted on the goal. Lynsey Nakamura and Schroder scored for Neumann in the second period. Jasper Thomson assisted on Nakamura's goal while Acosta assisted on Schroeder's.

 

Angela Gilmour netted an unassisted goal 3:20 into the third period. Nicole Alexopoulos rounded out the scoring with 1:01 left in regulation. Diane Peters and Blazenko assisted on the fifth goal.

 

Neumann improves to 6-4-1 overall. The Knights are now off for the holiday break. Neumann will host the Holiday Tournament on January 8 and 9, 2011. Salve Regina, Cortland St. and Sacred Heart will all participate in the two-day tournament. Action will begin at 5:45 on Saturday.
