ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women’s ice hockey team defeated Buffalo State, 3-2, Sunday afternoon in ECAC West action.
Jessica Schroeder led the Knights with two goals. Nicole Alexopoulos also scored for Neumann. Shannon Donnelly made 23 saves in net.
Schroeder scored the game-winner with 2:06 left in the third period.
Schroeder opened the scoring with a goal at the 18:33mark of the first period. The Knights went into the first intermission with the 1-0 lead.
The teams traded goals in the second period. Alexopoulos put Neumann up 2-0. Buffalo St. then cut the lead to 2-1 on the power play.
The Bengals tied the game at two with as 5-on-3 goal in the beginning of the third period.
The Knights outshot the Bengals 54-24.
Neumann (11-9-1, 6-7-1 ECAC West) will travel to Chatham next weekend for a pair of ECAC West games. Friday’s game will begin at 7:30 p.m. The puck will drop on Saturday at 2 p.m.
