ASTON, Pa. – Neumann University senior Brittany Whetts was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Year while Head Coach Frank Farnese was named the Coach of the Year, announced Monday by the conference office.
Whetts, who was named the Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, was also named to the First Team All-Conference. Whetts started 24 games, including 14 conference games. She averages 23.2 points per game, to lead all scorers in the conference. The senior shot .712 percent from the foul line and averaged 9.4 rebounds per game. During her senior season Whetts became the all-time leading scorer in Neumann University’s history, surpassing Tim McKee’s mark of 1,691 set in 1993.
Fifth year Coach Frank Farnese was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) 2009-2010 Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year. Farnese will lead his team into the CSAC Championship as the No. 1 seed. In his five seasons with the Knights Farnese has accumulated an overall record of 63-56 and 42-21 in the CSAC.
Senior Nicole Feby was named to the Honorable Mention team. The guard started all 24 games this season and averaged 9.8 points per game. Senior Coleen Healy received CSAC Sportsmanship honors.
Neumann finished the regular season 18-6 overall and 14-2 in the conference to earn the No. 1 seed. The Knights have a bye in the first round and will host a semifinal contest on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The opponent will be decided after the first round on Tuesday.
