ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Neumann University women’s ice hockey team fell to SUNY-Potsdam 6-5 Tuesday evening in ECAC West action.

Nicole Alexopoulos had a goal and two assists for Neumann. Jasper Thomson and Holly Williams each had a goal and an assist. Khristine Acosta added two assists. Shannon Donnelly made 30 saves.

Breanna Roy had a goal and three assists for Potsdam. Stephanie Simons added a goal and two assists.

Neumann struck early and held a 4-0 lead after one period of play. Alexopoulos opened the scoring 6:05 into the game. Williams scored her goal just over two minutes later. Olivia Pryzbylkowski scored her first collegiate goal to put the Knights up 3-0. Thomson then added a goal and the Knights went into the first intermission up 4-0.

Potsdam fought back in the second and the teams went into the second intermission knotted at four.

Brittany Metcalfe put Neumann back up, 5-4, 5:29 into the third period with a power play goal. Potsdam responded with two goals in just under three minutes to take a 6-5 lead. The Bears would hang on for the win.

Neumann is now 12-11-1 overall and 7-9-1 in the conference. The Knights will finish in the No. 5 slot for the ECAC West playoffs and will travel to No. 4 Utica on Friday in the first round.
