Women's Basketball to Host Immaculata in Semifinals

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women’s basketball team will host Immaculata University Saturday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal match-up.

Neumann goes into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the conference after finishing conference play 14-2.

Immaculata, the No. 6 seed, advanced to the semifinals with a 61-48 win over No. 3 Marywood. The other semifinal contest will feature No. 5 Centenary at No. 2 Gwynedd-Mercy.

The Knights are led by CSAC Player of the Year Brittany Whetts, who is averaging 20.5 points per game. She also adds 9.8 rebounds per game. CSAC Honorable Mention honoree Nicole Feby nets 9.8 ppg. She leads the team in three-pointers, connecting on 46. Katie Young grabs 9.3 boards per game.

Neumann defeated Immaculata twice during the regular season. Whetts led the Knights to a 71-51 win at home. The senior scored 23 points in the win. Sami Borcky netted 11 while Feby added 10.

The Knights completed the regular season sweep with a 79-75 win on senior night. Whetts set the school record for career points in the game. Whetts also hit four free throws in the final four seconds, en route to her 39 points, to take the win. Feby added 11 points.

Under fifth-year Head Coach and CSAC Coach of the Year Frank Farnese, the Knights are 18-6 this season. Neumann finished conference play 14-2.

Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Mirenda Center.
