Baseball Holds on Against Albright

READING, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Albright College, 5-4, Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

Gary Mitchell was 4-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored to lead the Knights. Kevin Flanigan, Bobby Callan and Mathieu Valliéres all had two hits in the game. Ray Schmoltze started the game and went 7.0 innings and struck out eight to pick up the win. Sean Quigley went 2.0 innings for the save.

Albright got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Knights put three on the board in the third inning on a three-run triple by Mitchell.

The Lions went back on top with two runs in the fifth inning. The Knights answered in the home half of the sixth inning. Mitchell led off the sixth with a single. Flanigan knocked in Mitchell on a double to right field. Joe Armata then knocked in Flanigan for the eventual game-winning run.

Neumann (3-8) is set to face Lancaster Bible on Friday. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
