Men's Lacrosse Picks up First 2010 Win

FREDERICK, Md. – The Neumann University men’s lacrosse team picked up its first win of the 2010 season with a 13-12 win at Hood College Wednesday afternoon.

Tom Hedrick led the Knights with five goals. Justin Mailloux netted four and Kyle Gardner added two. Andrew Neubauer made 10 saves in net.

Hood jumped out with the early lead, taking a 3-1 advantage after one quarter. The Blazers would build a three goal lead, 5-2, but the Knights started their come-back. Neumann scored three of the final four goals in the second quarter, including knotting the game at six and Hood took a one goal advantage, 7-6, into the break.

The Knights would tie the game at 9-all with 3:23 left in the third quarter and would not trail again. Neumann would take a one-goal advantage and Hood would tie the score all the way to the end of the game. Hedrick netted his fifth goal of the game with 2:18 left in regulation that proved to be the game-winner and the Knights held on for the 13-12 win.

Neumann (1-2) will host Elmira on Saturday for a non-conference match-up. The face-off is slated for 4 p.m.
