CAPE COD, Mass. – Senior guard Brittany Whetts, of the Neumann University women's basketball team, was named the ECAC Division III South Women's Basketball Player of the Year, announced Wednesday.
Whetts was also named to the First Team All-Stars. The senior led the Knights to the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship and the team's first NCAA Tournament Appearance. Neumann finished the season 20-7 overall.
For the season, Whetts averaged 20.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. For her career, she netted 16.8 points and pulled down 9.9 rebounds. Against Immaculata this season, Whetts set the Neumann record for points in a career, surpassing Tim McKee's mark of 1,691. Whetts finished her career with 1,817 points.
This is one of a long list of award for Whetts in the 2009-10 season. She was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Player of the Year and received first-team All-Conference honors. The senior was then named the CSAC MVP for the Championship game. Earlier this week, Whetts was named to the d3hoops.com All-Region second team.
