ASTON, Pa. – Rachel Purpuro, of Neumann University women's softball team, was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 21, 2010.
The sophomore opened up the week throwing seven scoreless innings against #16 Ursinus College. Purpuro closed out the week with two solid performances in conference play. Friday afternoon she shut out Rosemont College, striking out nine and allowing only one hit. She returned to the mound Saturday against Marywood University picking up the win in five innings of work. Purpuro ended the week with a 1.65 ERA in 17 innings pitched.
Jennifer Goslin was named to the CSAC Honor Roll this week as well. The senior led the team to a 4-0 conference record last week. The senior had five runs, 11 hits, three doubles and nine RBIs. Goslin hit .688 with a slugging percentage of .875. Defensively Goslin was perfect with 28 putouts and three assists.
The Knights take to the field again on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Immaculata University. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
