CAPE COD, Mass. – Two Neumann Knights, of the men's ice hockey team) were named to the ECAC Men's West All-Conference teams for the 2009-10 season, announced Thursday by the ECAC Office. The teams are voted on by the leagues coaches.
Sophomore Williams Lacasse was named to the first team while Senior Matt Ward earned second team honors.
Lacasse earns his first All-Conference award. In his first season with Neumann, the defenseman led the team with 22 assists. He also netted three goals for 25 points (third on the team). The sophomore had one power play goal, one shorthanded goal and a game-winner. His shorthanded goal was only one scored by the Knights in 2009-10.
Ward earned his third All-Conference honor. He was named to the second team last season and to the All-Rookie team in 2007. This season, the senior led the Knights with 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists). He netted four power play tallies and a game-winner. The senior ended his career playing in 100 games and netted 49 goals and 79 assists for 128 points.
Neumann ended the season 15-9-3 this season and advanced to the ECAC West semifinals.
