Neumann Softball Travels to Providence, R.I. for NCAA Regional

ASTON, Pa. – The NCAA released the 60 team field for the 2010 Division III Softball Championship Monday afternoon. Neumann University is heading to Providence, R.I. for the regional competition beginning on Friday.
Neumann received the automatic bid from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) after winning its third consecutive conference title with a 6-5 win over Cabrini College last Saturday.
The Knights are the No. 5 seed in the six team regional and will face No. 2 Moravian College on Friday at 12 p.m. to begin the double-elimination tournament.
The College of New Jersey is the No. 1 seed. Kean is No. 3, Wesleyan (Conn.) No. 4 and Baruch the No. 6 seed in Providence.
This is Neumann’s third straight and fourth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament under the direction of seventh year Head Coach Bill Saar.
The winners of the eight regional locations will advance to the College World Series held in Eau Claire, Wisc.
Neumann is lead by the CSAC Player of the Year and first-team honoree Jennifer Goslin. The senior led the team with 58 hits, 18 doubles, 49 RBI and a .532 batting average.
Nine teammate joined Goslin on the All-Conference list: Lauren Strack, Kim Kirkpatrick, Deanna Christy, Brittany Campbell, Lauren Castiello, Jacki Herrington, Gabrielle Lulias, Rachel Purpuro, and Stephanie Marrone.
Tickets for the NCAA Regional will be available at the main entrance, cash only. Adults are $5 per day while students are $2 per day.
All games will have live stats and live streaming available through Rhode Island’s website.
