ASTON, Pa. - Neumann University baseball had four players named to The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) All-Conference team. Another player was named a CSAC Sportsmanship Award recipient.
Earning a spot on First Team All-Conference were Gary Mitchell, Outfield, and Mathieu Vallieres, Utility Player. Joe Armato, catcher, and Josh Krautwald, pitcher, were named to Second Team All-Conference.
Mitchell has started 33 of 34 games. The junior is batting .443 on the season with 51 hits, including a team leading eight doubles and nine homeruns. He has driven in 49 runs and scored 39. Mitchell had played strong defensively in the outfield with 52 putouts.
Vallieres started 31 of 32 games. He has a batting average of .322 on 39 hits. He leads the team with 11 doubles and four triples. Vallieres also hit three homeruns during the season. Defensively he has recorded 38 putouts.
Joe Armato has been behind the plate in 32 games. Defensively he has recorded 197 putouts and 33 assists. Hitting from right side of the plate Armato has a .309 batting average on 29 hits. The freshman has 25 RBIs on the season.
Krautwald has been a strong force on the mound for the Knights. The right hander has a 4-0 record, with a 2.79 ERA in 38.2 innings of work. Krautwald has struck out 43 batters.
Senior pitcher Joe Slater was Neumann’s CSAC Sportsmanship Award Recipient. This award honors those individuals who embody the spirit of sportsmanship, competition and fair play.
The Knights being the CSAC playoffs tomorrow with a first round game at Gwynedd-Mercy beginning at 2 p.m.
