Neumann’s Goslin Named CSAC Player of the Year

ASTON, Pa. – Neumann University's Jennifer Goslin has been named the 2010 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) 2010 Player of the Year, announced Tuesday afternoon.

Nine teammates join Goslin on the All-Conference honors list. Goslin was also named to the first-team All-Conference. The senior finished the regular season with 18 runs scored, 53 hits and four homeruns. She led the conference in on-base percentage (.624), batting average (.515) and doubles (17). Goslin also had a .991 fielding percentage at first base. This is the fourth year that Goslin has earned All-Conference status, including first team the past two seasons and honorable mention and Rookie of the Year in 2007.

Joining Goslin on the first-team is Lauren Strack (second base) and Kim Kirkpatrick (shortstop). Strack earns her second All-Conference honor as she batted .337 this season with 31 hits, 23 runs and 11 RBI. Kirkpatrick is named to the first-team for the first time after earning second-team honors the past two seasons. The junior led the team with five homeruns and was second on the team with a batting average of .450 in 38 games. She had 49 hits, 44 runs scored and 22 RBI.

Two Knights gaining first time honors are Deanna Christy (outfield) and Brittany Campbell (pitcher) who were named to the second-team All-Conference. Christy played and started in all 39 games this season. She managed 26 hits, scored 20 runs and in knocked in 15. Campbell is 8-5 from the circle this season. The junior has a 2.58 earned-run-average in 95.0 innings pitched. She has struck out 55.

Lauren Castiello, Jacki Herrington, Gabrielle Lulias, Rachel Purpuro and Stephanie Marrone all earned honorable mention status for the 210 season. Marrone also received the Sportsmanship Award.

Castiello is second on the team with 25 RBI. Herrington has had seven doubles and 24 RBI during her rookie season. Lulias is 5-for-5 in stolen bases. Purpuro is 8-4 and leads the pitching staff with 67 strikeouts. Marrone leads the team with eight sacrifice hits this season.

Neumann claimed the No. 1 seed heading into the CSAC Tournament this weekend with a 21-1 overall conference record.
