Neumann Advances to CSAC Championship Game

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team defeated Cabrini College 3-1 Friday afternoon to advance to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship Game.

 

All of the scoring took place in the fourth inning. Cabrini loaded the bases in the top half and scored its run on a bases loaded walk.

 

Neumann then answered in the home half as Kim Kirkpatrick opened the inning with a double. Lauren Castiello knocked in Kirkpatrick to tie the game at one. Jacki Herrington and Megan Mazur then knocked in runs for a 3-1 Knight lead.

 

Brittany Campbell (10-5) allowed just one hit in the final three innings for the win. She went 3.2 innings in relief for the win. Rachel Purpuro started the game and went 3.1 innings.

 

With the win, Neumann (25-16) acvances to the CSAC Championship game slated for Saturday at 12 p.m. Cabrini will face Centenary at 10 a.m. where the winner will advance to play Neumann.
