OSWEGO, N.Y – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated Hamline University 5-3 in the first game of the Pathfinder Bank Oswego Tournament Saturday afternoon.
The Knights got out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Andrew Love and Jordan Zalba.
Hamline scored two goals in the second period to tie the game at two heading into the third period.
Dave Gervais gave the Knights a 3-2 lead midway through the third period. The Pipers tied the game again two and a half minutes later.
Cory Park scored the eventual game-winning goal with three minutes left in regulation. Love scored his second goal of the game in the empty net to seal the win.
Marlon Gardner dished out three assists. Bill Foster and Gervais each had two. Matt Tendler made 19 saves in net for the win.
Neumann (8-3) will face the winner of the Oswego/Connecticut game tomorrow at either 1 or 4.
