ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team dominated Sacred Heart with a 9-1 win over Sacred Heart Friday evening.
Edie Brenning notched her first career hat trick for the Knights. Diane Peters netted two goals. Angela Gilmour had a goal and two assists. Jessica Schroeder dished out three assists. Nikk Blazenko had a goal and an assist and Lynsey Nakamura had two assists. Shannon Donnelly made 18 saves in net.
Blazenko opened the scoring 18 seconds into the first period. The Knights then netted five goals in the second period to take a 6-0 lead. Peters started the second period by scoring 1:42 into play.
Brenning scored her second goal of the game 56 seconds into the third period. She completed the hat trick at the 5:38 mark.
The Knights bid for a shutout came to an end when the Pioneers scored at the 10:28 mark.
Neumann improves to 14-6-4 overall. Sacred Heart is now 8-18. The two teams will meet again tomorrow evening to complete regular season play beginning at 7 p.m.
