ASTON, Pa. – Nikk Blazenko scored with 5:05 left in regulation to break a scoreless game and lift the Neumann University women's ice hockey team to a 1-0 win over Utica College on Sunday afternoon.
Shannon Donnelly made 26 saves in the game for the shutout. Diane Peters and Jessica Schroeder notched the assists on the goals.
Marissa Hotaling made 25 saves in net for the Pioneers.
Utica had a chance at the end of the game when it pulled its goalie and went on the power play. The Pioneers then had a 6-on-3 with for the final 47 seconds of the game, but Neumann held then off and took the 1-0 win.
Neumann improves to 12-6-3 overall and 9-6-1 in the conference. Utica is now 10-9 and 6-7 in the ECAC West. The Knights travel to Potsdam next weekend to wrap up conference play.
