ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team's bid for a third straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title came to an end with a 2-1 loss to Cabrini College in a semifinal game Friday evening.
The game was physical with each team battling for the ball. The Cavaliers broke the scoreless game in the 21st minute. Shortly into the second half, Cabrini put another ball in the net for a 2-0 advantage.
The Knights took the ball after that and put the pressure on. Mike Atallian finally broke through in the 57th minute, off an assist from Steve Warhola.
Neumann kept the pressure on during the second half, but could not find the back of the net again. The Knights had shots hit the post and go just high and wide, but could not get the tying tally.
Alex Lacko made three saves in net.
Cabrini moves onto the CSAC Championship game against Rosemont on Sunday. Neumann (12-6-3) will now wait for ECAC Tournament announcements to see if the season will continue next week.
