CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team defeated Wilson College 4-2 in the first round of the ECAC South Region Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.

The Knights scored their first run with patience as the Phoenix walked four batters in the second inning. Crystal Perlman drew the first walk and came around to score when Allie White walked.

Neumann then took advantage of two errors to plate two more runs in the third inning.

Katie Halter started the fourth inning with a triple and then scored on a passed ball for a 4-0 Knights lead.

Wilson did not go quietly and started to make some noise in the seventh inning, starting with a solo homerun. The Phoenix scored one more time before Rachel Purpuro got the third out on a strike out looking.

Purpuro went 7.0 innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits and struck out eight.

Neumann will face No. 1 seeded Catholic University on Saturday at 10:00 AM on the campus of Marywood University.
