Women's Lacrosse Beaten By Crusaders in ECAC Tournament

READING, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team (10-7) ends its season with a loss to Alvernia University 22-9 in the first round of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic tournament Wednesday afternoon.

 

Neumann senior Alex Bohen scored five goals and added one assist to lead the Knights, in their first ECAC appearance in the women's lacrosse history. 

 

The Crusaders scored the first two goals of the game to get off to a quick start.

 

The Knights countered by scoring the next four goals to take a 4-2 lead. Bohen would score the four first goals, along with Meghan Garsey, Lexy Wilkinson and Andrea Lorusso pitching a goal each.

 

The Crusaders, down 7-4 in the first half, went on a seven goal run and take an 11-7 lead. The Knights closed the gap to 11-8 just before intermission.

 

The Crusaders opened with two quick second half goals and then kept hammering away with five consecutive goals.

 

The Crusaders outscored the Knights in to second half 11-2 en route to a 22-9 win.

 

The Knights allowed 61 shots and 48 were on goal. Sam Kotowski made 26 saves.

 

“This was our first game in the ECAC tournament and have a great idea of where we need to be next year“, stated Coach Malone. “I am happy our senior Alex had the opportunity, but I want to use this as a springboard for future success. We will be better prepared for next spring”.
