PLATTSBURGH,  N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice team end their season with a loss to No. 1 Plattsburgh 5-0 in ECAC West Semifinal action, Saturday afternoon.

The Knights gave the Cardinals an early power play, but the Cardinals really didn't create any dangerous opportunities. The Cardinals returned the favor granting the Knights a power play and Lynsey Nakamura's back post redirection went wide in the first period.

The Cardinals had 21 shots in the first period and of the 21 shots, one shot found its way into the back of the Knights net. With 1:20 left in the first period, The Cardinals Ali Vakos scored off a deflection in front of the net. Alyssa Parke initially shot the puck, blocked by a Knights defender, only to get the puck back and backhand a shot on goal to an awaiting Vakos to tap the puck into the net and take a 1-0 lead.

Neumann couldn't hold down Plattsburgh, as the Cardinals scored two goals in less than a two minute span at the 7:33 and 5:57 left in the second period and take a 3-0 lead. The Knights had two power play opportunities, just after the Cardinals goals, but their hard work wasn't rewarded with a goal.

The Cardinals added two more insurance goals in the third period and hold on to the 5-0 victory.
Shannon Donnelly made 20 saves in the first period alone en route to a 49 save performance.

The Knights did a great job tying up the Cardinals and limiting second chance opportunities. Most shots, Donnelly was able to get a good look at and make the save. But of the goals that were scored, most all of them were due to deflections that Donnelly really had no chance of saving.
Neumann (10-16-1) finished their season grateful for the services of seniors Donnelly, Nakamura, Allie Frank and Olivia Pryzbylkowski.
