Softball Falls in First NCAA Game

SALEM, Va. – The Neumann University softball team dropped a 4-0 decision to Emory University on Thursday evening in NCAA Regional action.

 

Lauren Wilkie went started the game and allowed three runs on six hits. Allyson Parris and Kristin Beaty finished out the game. Becca Reinhart had two of the Knights five hits.

 

Emory scored on runs in the first and two in the second to take an early 3-0 lead.

 

Reinhart opened the fifth inning with a single and advanced to second when Callie Emel reached on an error. Neumann could not get the next hit and left the two runners on base.

 

In the fifth inning, the Eagles had a runner on third when the Knights caught her in a run down, Jacki Herrington to Emel to Danielle Grayson, for the second out of the inning.

 

Crystal Perlman had a single in the seventh, but Neumann could not get her across the plate and fell 4-0.

 

Neumann (29-15) will face Lynchburg tomorrow at 12:00 PM in the second elimination game.
