GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team, the No. 3 seed, defeated No. 2 seeded Gwynedd Mercy University 95-78 on Tuesday evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal game.
Reggie Coleman scored a team high 22 points and dished out 10 assists. Kevin Green connected on four three-pointers en route to 18 points. Mark Blount added 17 points and five blocks. Lamon Church had a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Rafiq Williams pulled down 10 boards.
The first half was a battle and featured 10 lead changes and five ties. With 6:46 on the clock, the Griffins held the biggest lead of the half, six points, 26-20. Two free throws by Coleman with 1:30 left in the half gave the Knights the lead. Neumann finished the half with the final two buckets and took a 38-33 lead into the break.
Neumann came out of the locker room on fire, going on a 14-2 run over the first five minutes to take a 52-35 lead. That run ended up being the difference in the game as the Knights continued to add to their lead and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Neumann (19-8) advances to the CSAC Championship and will travel to No. 1 seeded No. 6 Cabrini College. The Championship game will be on Friday with the tip-off at 7:00 PM.
