ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann Unviersity women's lacrosse team defeated Marywood University 12-5 on Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal action.
With the win, the Knights will travel to Cabrini for the CSAC Championship match on Saturday afternoon.
Rebecca Dolenti and Jordan Hopkins each netted three goals for the Knights. Mandy Fedak added two goals. Sam Kotowski made 12 saves in net.
Fedak and Dolenti put the Knights on the board quickly. The Pacers cut Neumann's lead to 2-1 just a few seconds later. The Knights then scored four straight goals to end the first half and hold a 6-1 lead at the break.
Each team netted three goals as the second half clock started to tick away. After the Pacers scored their fourth goal with 8:59 on the clock, the game went into a lightning delay. Neumann held a 9-4 lead.
After waiting for 1:45 minutes, the game resumed. The Pacers for on the board with 4:25 left on the clock for a 9-5 game. The Knights then netted the final three goals to secure the win and their ticket back to the CSAC Championship game.
Neumann and Cabrini, who battled in the Championship game last season as well, will face-off at 12:00 PM in Radnor, Pa.
