Women's Lacrosse Completes Come-From-Behind Semifinal Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team defeated Immaculata University 16-12 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal action on Wednesday night.

Neumann is the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and will face No. 1 seeded Cabrini College in the championship game on Saturday. This will be the third straight year the Knights and the Cavaliers will face-off for the CSAC Title. Cabrini defeated fourth seeded Marywood University 18-6 in the other semifinal match on Wednesday.

Amanda Fedak led the Knights with six goals. Jordan Hopkins contributed three goals and 13 draw controls. Shae Risley and Alexa McIntyre each netted a pair of goals. Sirelle Torres picked up seven groundballs and Emily Sanders had six groundballs. Gabby Curry recorded 13 saves in net to pick up the win.

The Mighty Macs came out on fire and scored the first three goals of the game for an early 3-0 lead. Risley and Fedak put Neumann on the board to cut the lead to 3-2. Neumann and Immaculata would go back and forth with goals with but the Mighty Macs would stay just out of reach and would hold an 8-5 lead at halftime.

The second half was more of what the Knights are used to and outscored the Mighty Macs 11-4. Immaculata started the half like the first half and scored 37 seconds in. Neumann responded with four goals of its own in the next 10 minutes, and a free position goal by Emily Sanders tied the game up at 9-9. Immaculata took back a one goal lead at the 16:49 mark of the second period. Hopkins tied the game back at 10 with 14:10 left on the clock. Fedak's sixth goal of the game, coming with 11:37 left in regulation, gave the Knights their first lead of the game.

McIntyre and Gabbey Murray followed Fedak's goal for a 13-10 advantage for the Knights with under 10 minutes left on the clock. Neumann outscored Immaculata 3-2 over the final minutes to hold on and complete the comeback.

Neumann (11-5) will travel to Cabrini on Saturday for the CSAC Championship game. The time is TBD.
