Bill Saar




Coach Saar begins his 14th year at the helm of the Neumann Softball team for the 2016 season.

Neumann won its sixth conference championship under Coach Saar in 2015. Coach Saar also won his 300th game as a Knight in a conference win against Notre Dame (Md.). Neumann finished 30-9 overall and represented the CSAC in the NCAA Tournament. The team also won its second straight CSAC Team Academic Award.

During Coach Saar’s tenure at Neumann, many players have received postseason honors. He has coached three All-Americans, four Division III Statistical Champions, 23 NFCA East Region All-Stars and 13 ECAC All-Stars. In the conference, five of his players have been named Player of the Year, two pitcher named Pitcher of the Year and four have been named the Rookie of the Year. Thirty-five players have been named First Team All-Conference while 29 have been named to the second team. Twice, the team has been ranked in the top 10 in the nation in Division III for team GPA.

The Knights have appeared in the conference postseason in each of the past 12 seasons, finishing as either the Champion or Runner-Up in the nine of the 12 seasons. In the 2015 season, Coach Saar reached his 300th career win game at Neumann and currently has an overall record of 324-203.

Through his 13 seasons as the Knights head coach, Saar has brought Neumann six conference championships (two PAC, four CSAC). Also, Coach Saar has received six NCAA Tournaments and four ECAC South Region bids.

Prior to his work at Neumann, Saar has coached at all levels including the Assistant Coach at Immaculata University. Coach Saar is also a member of the ASA Umpire Association and has umpired many invitational tournaments including the 2001 Big League World Series in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Coach Saar is a father of two and currently resides in Malvern, Pa. with his wife Lynnette. He was inducted into the Neumann Hall of Fame in the Fall of 2011.
