Aston, PA. - Neumann sophomore Kin Rizzo scored all the Knights would needed, in the first 2 minutes of the game, to lift them past Pennsylvania Athletic Conference rival, Alvernia College. Rizzo went one on one with Crusader's goalkeeper Katie Einsel, after being sent a pass from junior Nicole Christy at the 1:52 mark for the Knights first goal of the afternoon.
Neumann point's leader, Casey Geary scored an insurance goal in the 70th minute of the game to give Neumann the 2-0 advantage. Geary's goal, her ninth of the season, was assisted by senior Shana Mitchell at 70:10.
Neumann out shot Alvernia 20-8 in the PAC match up. Einsel had seven saves for the Crusaders while Kelsey Toomey and Elizabeth Raiburn stopped four shots to earn their fifth shared shut out of the season.
Neumann will return to action on Senior Day, Saturday, October 22. The Knights will host Gwynedd Mercy College at 12:00 p.m. Prior to the afternoon PAC contest the Knights will honor seniors Shana Mitchell and Natalie Lutz in a pre-game ceremony starting at 11:45 a.m. Followed by a post game cookout at 2:00 p.m.
