The women's tennis team earned their second PAC victory of the season on Saturday, in a come from behind win by defeating PAC rival Alvernia College 5-4 in Aston, PA.
After falling in straight sets to the Crusaders in doubles competition, Neumann's freshman took to the court to lead the Knights to five straight wins, propelling Neumann past the Crusaders in conference play.
Alvernia's Mega Weaver and Neumann's Laura Bodish were the first on the courts at #5 singles. Weaver continued the Crusaders streak, defeating Bodish 3-6, 6-4, 0-6 to take a 4-0 lead against the Knights. Unfortunately for Alvernia, Weaver's point would be the last for the Crusaders as Neumann answered with five straight singles wins.
Junior Sarah Tomlinson defeated Tiffany Waymen 6-0, 6-1 at #1. Ashley Miller downed Heather Leader at the #2 spot and Shamira Cannon cruised in the No. 3 position, putting together one of her strongest outings of the season with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Kathy Faust. Teammates Melinda Howell at #4, and Rachael Mayer at #6, won their first collegiate singles outings in straight sets to round out the 5-4 victory for the Knights.
