MILFORD, CT - Sophomores Samanatha May, Kristin Gauthier and Carolyn Fauteux score a goal each while senior Lindsay Parsons, who was awarded the third star of the game, added two assists in the Knights 4-3 loss at Sacred Heart University in women's ice hockey action Friday night.
The Pioneers got on the board first with a goal at 2:43 of the first period. Neumann evened the score just 19 seconds before the intermission with a power play goal by Kristen Gauthier. Senior Lindsay Parsons and newcomer Jenelle Marier were credited with the assist.
The Knights took a 2-1 lead 4:20 into the second frame on another power play goal, this one by sophomore Samanatha May, off a pass from Parsons. Sophomore Carolyn Fauteux helped Neumann push the lead to 3-1 with a Knights' goal less than a minute later. Jessica Lister and Carly Fitzsimmons assisted on the play.
Sacred Heart used a power play goal to close within 3-2, 8:08 into the period. The Pioneers' Sarah Turbert tied the score with a power play goal at 9:12. Sacred Heart then pulled ahead, at the 14:23 mark, adding an insurance goal 34 seconds into the third period to record the 5-3 win.
