Aston, PA - The Neumann Knights defeated Buffalo State (4-6-0) 6-2 in non conference men's hockey action in this evening. The Knights now 4-3-0 overall will look to make it two in a row Saturday afternoon, when they host Buffalo State in the second game of the home and home series.

The Knights opened the scoring on the Bengals just 29 seconds into the game when Peter Vaisanen took a pass from Mike Gooch and Ryan Heickert to put the Knights up 1-0. Buffalo State tied things up just under the 10 minute mark as Sean Burke scored a short handed goal off an assist from Sean O'Connell. Neumann's Stewart Sjoberg gave the Knight's a one goal advantage going into the first intermission when he landed a shot past Bengal's net minder Sean Sheehan at 15:08. Mike Hedden and Donavon Hall were credited with the assist.

In the second period Neumann padded their lead (3-1) when Sean Cryer scored the eventual game winner, on a Knights power play, after accepting a pass from Dayne Bihn and Mike Hedden.  Neumann Knight Brock Van Slyke followed suit with his first goal of the season, less than seven minutes later to put Neumann up 4-1. The Bengal's Jonathan Pietrangelo closed the gap at the 18:45 mark, but the Knights did not let up. Kyle Casey capitalized on another Neumann power-play making it 5-2 after combining with Cryer and Hedden four minutes into the third. Sjoberg then scored his second of the night after receiving a pass from Hedden and Hall, putting it past the Buffalo State goalie, lighting the lamp and putting the score at 6-2 in Neumann's favor.

Neumann will return to the ice on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. when they host Buffalo State in the second game of the home and home series.
