Nov. 26, 2005

The Neumann Knights recorded the best record in program history with a 7-1 defeat of Buffalo State in non-conference men's ice hockey action.

The Knights opened a scoring frenzy on the Bengals after Mike Hedden scored his third goal of the season and the only goal of the first period at the 7:09 mark. Neumann made it 2-0 seven minutes into the second stanza and quickly extended their lead to 3-0, less than five minutes later, when Neil Trimm connected with Josh Jacobs and Kaleigh Schrock on a Knights power play sliding the puck past Buffalo State goaltender Sean Sheehan. The Bengals avoided being shut out by the Knights when Greg Prybylski caught a lucky break, after receiving a pass from Jeff Mok and Mike DeMarco with just less than two minutes to play in the second period. However, nothing seemed to faze the Knights who answered with four consecutive goals to close out the game.  Kyle Casey gave the Knights a 4-1 lead at the 2:10 mark of the third with the assist going to Erik Stoyanvich. Dayne Bihn followed suit a minute and a half later after teaming up with Jacobs and Trimm for the 5-1 edge. Neumann's Jeff Nuttall and Casey looked to veteran Kevin Droddy for number six and set up Donavon Hall for the final point of the game and the 7-1 triumph. Hedden and Stewart Sjoberg were credited with the assist the Hall goal.

Net minder Liam Johnston recorded his second win of the season stopping 18 shots in goal for the Knights.

Neumann will return to the ice on Friday, December 2, 2005 when the will be hosted by ECAC West conference rival Hobart College.
