Aston, PA - Playing in front of a 143 home faithful, Neumann volleyball let their first PAC match up of the season slip away 3-2 to Gwynedd Mercy College at the Bruder Gymnasium in Aston, PA.
The Knights (0-1 PAC, 5-4) took the second and third games 30-27 and 30-28, respectively, but handed the Griffins (2-0 PAC, 2-5) games one, four, and five 30-18, 30-27, and 15-12.
Neumann combined for a .164 hitting percentage on 58 kills and 29 errors in 177 total attacks. Freshmen Julia Tarloski (Malvern, PA/Bishop Shanahan) and Rachael Sokolovich (Eddystone, PA /Ridley)each recorded over a .250 hitting percentage on the night. Tarloski led all attackers with a .357 attacking average and 22 kills. She also blocked four shots (two solo). Sokolovich hit at a .267 clip on 18 kills. She added one block assist and nine digs to her stat line. Veteran Christina Walsh (Downingtown, PA/Bishop Shanahan) had 23 digs for the Knights while Kristen Gregg (Folsom, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) added 42 assists in the 3-2 loss.
Neumann is next in action on Friday, September 16, when they travel to Annville, Pennsylvania for the Lebanon Valley Tournament. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
