Aston, PA - The Neumann College field hockey team played host to Widener University, Thursday afternoon, in a non-conference match-up. The Knights fell behind early in the first half and could not recover, falling to the Pioneers, 4-0. Neumann drops to 1-9 overall while widener improves to 4-1.

 

Widener's Mallory Meyer found the net early in the contest scoring an unassisted goal just 2 minutes into the game. The Knights managed to hold off the Pioneers for the next 31 minutes but could not stop Jaime Carr from flicking one past Knights' Goaltender Chelsea Ward just before the end of the half.

 

In the second half the Pioneers scored two more unassisted goals both by Missy Pappas, 11 minutes apart, ending the game in a 4-0 shutout.

 

Widener's Kate Hertage had 12 saves this afternoon while Neumann's Chelsea Ward stopped seven for the Knights.

 

Neumann will play again on Saturday, September 24, when they travel to Arcadia University for a 1:00 p.m. start.
