Box Score
For the second consecutive year Neumann College's Volleyball team is participating in the Haverford College Volleyball Tournament. In the first game of the tournament the Knights defeated Alfred University very handily. The Knights won the match in straight sets, winning the first three games of the match 30-25, 30-20, and 30-20. This was a clear sign this Knight team was playing to win from the start.
Alfred came late to the match after being dropped off at the wrong location. Arriving at 11:03 a.m. for an 11 a.m. match, Alfred was in a position to forfeit. Representing the Neumann values of hospitality and competitive spirit, Coach Jespersen conferred with the referees and invited Alfred to warm-up and play the match. After that, the Knights did the rest, making quick work of their opponents.
In their second game of the tournament the Knights took on Sweet Briar College out of the Old Dominion Conference. Once again the Knights started quickly. Led by Julie Tarloski and Rachael Sokolovich, Neumann jumped out to commanding leads in each of the first three sets and never looked back. The Knights swept the match with scores of 30-18, 30-11, 30-16.
The Knights will play a familiar opponent in the next round of the tournament when they take on Arcadia University at 9 a.m. Sunday September 4, 2005.
