The Neumann Knights defeated the Rosemont Ramblers women's basketball team 64-63 in Rosemont, Pennsylvania.
In the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match up, the two teams battled back and forth leading up to a 31-31 half time draw and a second half that proved to be much of the same. With 1:32 left on the clock, the Knights tied up the game for the ninth time when a Nellie Mixon's field goal put both teams at 63-63. As time dwindled down, Neumann put on the pressure. Junior Kim Hinkle, grabbed her third steal of the night, forcing Rosemont to turn over the ball. Her effort set up Nellie Mixon who capitalized on the opportunity to take the lead. Fouled on the advancing play, Mixon was sent to the line. The senior captain had no trouble arching the ball through the air and into the hoop for a 64-63 lead. With less than: 03 on the clock another foul, committed by the Ramblers, sent Syreeta Brown to the line. The starting guard's shots fell short but the battle for the rebound took seconds off the clock and with control taken by the Ramblers with only 00:01 left, Neumann was able to prevent Rosemont from reversing the outcome. The win moves the Knights to 4-1 in the PAC and 6-8 overall.
Mixon led the Knights with 26 points on the night, going 9 for 20 from the field and 8 for 12 from the line. Mixon also proved to be a defensive threat, racking up 9 rebounds for her team. For the Ramblers, senior Nikkia Bright (Philadelphia, PA/Central) notched 18 points on the night. She also proved to be a tough defenseman, tallying 6 rebounds on the night.
