ASTON, PA- In a conference match-up against Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon, the Neumann Knights trailed Arcadia for most of the first half.  Despite their efforts to take the lead, Neumann fell short of Arcadia with a final score of 68-75.

Only seconds into the game, Neumann was jump started by Syreeta Brown (Wilmington, PA/St. Elizabeth), who netted a three pointer to take the lead.  Arcadia's Becky Soda (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) answered back with a lay-up and a foul shot to tie it up.  The two teams battled back and forth while Neumann's Kirsten Patton (Odessa, DE/Padua Academy) and Nellie Mixon (Philadelphia, PA/West Catholic) connected to make seven of the next nine points for the Knights.  However, Becky Soda and Katie Lynch paired up to score the next eight points for Arcadia.  Soda did most of the damage for Arcadia, putting them up nine, making it 18-27 Arcadia.  Kim Hinkle (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) then set up Syreeta Brown and Kylynn McNichol (Havertown, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) on the next two 3-point shots in an attempt to close the gap for Neumann, but  Arcadia took their large lead at 9:48 going up 10 points.  Mixon ended the half scoring four more points for Neumann, but they remained at a six point deficit with a score of 28-34 Arcadia.

Starting out the second half, Arcadia's Melissa Pendleton (Philadelphia, PA/Bodine) added to the AU lead, by scoring off a pass from Soda and going 2 for 2 on free throws.  It wasn't long before Arcadia took its biggest lead of the game going up 12 points over Neumann with a shot made by Amanda Holroyd (Richboro, PA/Council Rock).  Neumann continued to persevere, but Arcadia maintained its lead by about seven points throughout the second half.  Nellie Mixon sunk free throws for nine points and netted eight more points to lead Neumann, but the Knights could not close the gap.  With only 1:05 left on the clock, Neumann came within four points of Arcadia, but Arcadia took advantage of multiple free throw opportunities putting them up eight.  Neumann made a final attempt to get back in the game, but the clock proved to be the deciding factor as time ran out, and Arcadia taking the win, ending the game 68-75 over the Knights.

The Knights will return to the court for another conference match-up hosting the Wolverines of Wesley College on Monday, January 30th.
